Patriots' possible starter retires in surprise decision after signing in free agency

The New England Patriots made a number of offensive lineman acquisitions this offseason.

One of the most experienced won't actually be suiting up for the Pats after all.

On Tuesday, the Patriots placed Wes Schweitzer on the reserve/retired list.

Schweitzer will turn 32 years old in September.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound lineman was a sixth-round pick in 2016 by the Falcons.

Schweitzer spent three years in Atlanta, then three in Washington, before playing for the Jets in each of the past two seasons.
