Patriots Place Wes Schweitzer On Reserve/Retired List

The New England Patriots signed offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer to a one-year, $1.55 million contract three months ago in the hopes that he would not only add depth to the position (and potentially compete for the starting job at left guard), but also serve as a veteran presence in the locker room.

It appears that Schweitzer's contributions with the organization will be limited to just the offseason, as the Patriots placed him on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday.

Schweitzer signed with the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent after spending the previous two seasons with the New York Jets.
