The New England Patriots placed cornerback Jonathan Jones on injured reserve on Saturday. He had been dealing with a shoulder injury that he appeared to suffer in the team’s Week 6 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He did not practice in any of the team’s three sessions in Week 7.
Jones had been the team’s starting nickel cornerback, and will be a challenging player to replace, with the team lacking depth behind him.
Jones is a part of the cornerback group that includes J.C. Jackson, Myles Bryant Jalen Mills, Joejuan Williams, Justin Bethel and Shaun Wade.
