The New England Patriots have decided on one of the most important position battles this summer.
Veteran kicker Parker Romo and rookie Andy Borregales have battled throughout the summer. And now there is a winner.
MassLive's Mark Daniels reports that the team is releasing Romo, meaning that Borregales, who the Patriots selected in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL draft, will be the team's next kicker.
ESPN's Mike Reiss provided some additional context on the decision.
"The Patriots informed kicker Parker Romo of their intention to release him. While media members (like this one) touted a competition in camp, by last week, I didn’t sense the braintrust viewed it similarly.
