FOXBORO — To hear the Kansas City Chiefs tell it, Danny Amendola delivered a cheap shot.
But according to Patriots coach Bill Belichick, his wide receiver did nothing wrong.
In the second quarter of Saturday’s AFC divisional playoff game, the Chiefs punted toward the Pats goal line. As Kansas City gunner Jamell Fleming circled toward the ball to try and down it at the 4-yard line, Amendola blasted the cornerback with a borderline helmet-to-helmet hit.
Amendola was penalized for unnecessary roughness, but the Pats only lost 2 yards because it was half the distance to the goal line.
