Patriots make decision to cut rookie ahead of training camp

The New England Patriots announced their decision to release undrafted rookie defensive tackle Wilfried Pene on Thursday.

It's a move that comes a little under a month before the players are scheduled to report to training camp. Pene, a former defensive player for Virginia Tech, was part of the NFL's International Player Pathway program. He participated in OTAs and minicamp for the Patriots over the spring.
