If the Patriots plan on addressing their quarterback vacancy in free agency, Baker Mayfield made plenty of sense as a proven signal-caller in the prime of his career.
But the 28-year-old QB won’t hit the open market before the start of NFL free agency this week.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport first reported on Sunday evening that Mayfield is closing in on a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — the team he played with during the 2023 season. Rapoport added that Mayfield agreed to terms on a three-year contract worth up to $115 million in incentives and $50 million guaranteed.
