With how active the New England Patriots have been this week, it’s easy to forget NFL free agency hasn’t even officially started yet.
The Patriots have agreed to terms with eight external free agents since the league’s legal tampering period began Monday, adding two tight ends (Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry), two wide receivers (Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne), two defensive linemen (Davon Godchaux and Henry Anderson), one outside linebacker (Matt Judon) and one defensive back (Jalen Mills).
Those signings can be finalized once the league year opens at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
New England also has re-signed four of its own free agents (quarterback Cam Newton, special teamer Justin Bethel, D-end Deatrich Wise and D-tackle Carl Davis) and re-acquired offensive tackle Trent Brown in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders that can be completed Wednesday afternoon.
