Patriots elevate veteran WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey, QB Garrett Gilbert for Browns game

It looks like Mac Jones is going to be a game-time decision against the Browns.

The Patriots quarterback — listed as questionable with a high-ankle sprain — made the trip to Cleveland, but New England also elevated journeyman Garrett Gilbert from the practice squad as a contingency plan. If Jones isn’t ready to go, Bailey Zappe will get his second straight start with Gilbert backing him up.

The Patriots also elevated Lil’Jordan Humphrey, who figures to get quite a few snaps with Nelson Agholor (hamstring) ruled out. It’s been an eventful week for Humphrey, who was released on Tuesday, cleared waivers, re-signed to the practice squad Wednesday, and has now been elevated on Saturday and will play on Sunday.
