Patriots elevate veteran RB D’Ernest Johnson ahead of Sunday’s game vs. Falcons

Following an injury to starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson (toe) this week, the Patriots added a veteran running back — D’Ernest Johnson — to the mix on their practice squad.

The same week, New England has now elevated Johnson to the 53-man roster, putting him in line to make his Patriots debut on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Johnson is a seven-year NFL veteran, giving New England some needed experience ahead of Sunday’s matchup. Outside of his presence, the only other running backs on the Patriots roster are 2025 second round pick TreVeyon Henderson and 2024 UDFA Terrell Jennings.
