The New England Patriots officially designated LB Shea McClellin as one of their two players to return from injured reserve on Wednesday.
This officially opens a three-week window of time for the Patriots to add him to their active roster or he’ll spend the duration of the 2017 season on injured reserve.
McClellin was placed on injured reserve coming out of the preseason, but it reports from this past week mentioned that he could return to the team at some point in the near future.
McClellin, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Bears back in 2012.
