Patriots defense rises for Flowery day in win over Bills

FOXBORO — Trey and Marquis Flowers shared more than just a last name during Sunday's 37-16 Patriots win over the Buffalo Bills at Gillette Stadium.

Trey, a defensive lineman, and Marquis, a linebacker, were everywhere the Pats needed them to be on a front seven still missing linebacker Kyle Van Noy to a calf injury. Whether it came via sacks, tackles for loss or just plain sound assignment football, each Flowers — excuse the pun — took the bloom off the rose on key Buffalo drives to help turn a close game into a rout.

Of particular importance was preventing Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor from escaping the pocket and keeping running back LeSean McCoy from getting loose on outside runs.
