New England Patriots cornerback Marcellas Dial Jr. is done for the season after suffering a torn ACL during training camp practice on Monday.
The team announced that Dial was going on injured reserve on Tuesday.
Dial, a former sixth-round pick, was the only defensive player selected by the Patriots in the 2024 NFL draft. He was a regular contributor on special teams, but he also worked into the defensive mix as well, sparingly. He played in all 17 games and recorded 12 tackles and one forced fumble.
This is certainly a disappointing injury for a player who looked to be on an upward trajectory.
