Patriots cut rookie 2025 draft pick in surprising move

The New England Patriots cut 2025 draft pick Braydn Swinson ahead of the 53-man roster cut deadline on Tuesday, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.

It was arguably the most surprising release of the day for the Patriots considering many were high on Swinson, a fifth-round draft pick. He recorded 58 tackles, 8.5 sacks, three pass deflections and two forced fumbles with the LSU Tigers in his final collegiate year.

The Patriots' defensive front is expected to be a strength this season, despite some questions on the edge. Swinson is talented enough to land on another roster.
