FOXBOROUGH — Over the course of his rookie season, Drake Maye didn’t throw a pass to anybody with the pedigree of Stefon Diggs.
The four-time Pro Bowler had notched six straight 1000-yard seasons prior to the ACL tear that derailed him last fall. When he arrived in Foxbrough this spring, Diggs’ resume spoke for itself.
Even coming off the knee injury, Patriots quarterbacks coach Ashton Grant believes having a wideout as established as Diggs will do wonders for a young quarterback like Maye.
“It’s a security blanket,” Grant said. “You just have confidence knowing you can get to the ball to someone who is proven in this league.
