The Patriots will sign former Commanders running back Antonio Gibson, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL media.
Gibson rushed for 1,037 yards in 2021, but his playing time had diminished over the last few seasons. He made two starts last year, tallying 65 carries for 265 yards and a touchdown.
The former University of Memphis standout is a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield. He had more receiving yards (389) and receiving touchdowns (2) than rushing yards and touchdowns last season. Gibson played both receiver and running back in college.
