Patriots 2024 breakout LB making case to start in 2025

New England Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss could be pushing for a starting role on defense alongside newcomer Robert Spillane.

Elliss, who signed a two-year extension with the Patriots in the offseason, made strides during the spring practices at minicamp, per ESPN's Mike Reiss. The continued growth from last season is evident for Ellis, who recorded 80 tackles, 1.5 sacks, five pass deflections and a forced fumble in 16 games played.

However, he only started in five games of a season that many viewed as his breakout year. He is proving that he is more than just a journeyman special teams player.
