Patrick Chung's absence gives opportunity for newcomers to make impact

With New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung opting out of the 2020 season, that leaves a sizable hole at the position for the organization.

New England does have talent at the position, as Devin McCourty has proven to be a valuable, consistent and elite producer over the course of his career. Free agency acquisition Adrian Phillips should be able to help out at the position as well. Phillips came over from the Los Angeles Chargers in March.

Making the Pro Bowl in 2018, Phillips recorded 94 tackles and an interception. Being overshadowed by Derwin James and bogged down by injuries, Phillips did not have as good a 2019 season.
