No, it’s not time to bench Cam Newton yet as Patriots starting quarterback | Chris Mason

FOXBOROUGH — No, it doesn’t get much worse than Cam Newton’s showing on Sunday afternoon.

The Patriots quarterback threw just 15 passes and was picked off three times. The interceptions were all on Newton — nothing flukey about them — and he led N’Keal Harry into a massive hit that knocked the second-year receiver out of the game. Newton one-hopped some throws, overshot others, and wasn’t a factor in the running game.

Trailing 33-6 early in the fourth quarter, Bill Belichick had seen enough. Newton was lifted for Jarrett Stidham. It was the former MVP’s worst performance as a Patriot.
