Entering Saturday, the New England Patriots’ draft was supposed to end with the 238th overall selection in the seventh round. Eliot Wolf and company had different ideas, though. Through a series of trades they ended up with two later picks.
The first was No. 251, which was spent on long snapper Julian Ashby. The second came at No. 257 — the final pick in the draft and an honor that went to Kobee Minor, an unheralded cornerback out of Memphis.
The newest “Mr. Irrelevant,” Minor has no problems with that title. In fact, he fully embraces it.
