New England Patriots re-sign linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley, leading tackler in 2021

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. —

The New England Patriots have re-signed linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley, the team's leading tackler from last season.

The Patriots did not disclose the terms of the contract when they announced the signing on Monday. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on March 18 that Bentley had agreed to a two-year deal worth a maximum of $9 million.

Bentley, 25, will be entering his fifth season with New England after the organization drafted him with the 143rd overall pick in the fifth-round of the 2018 NFL draft out of Purdue University.

In 2021, Bentley started in all 16 of the games he played in and recorded a career-high and team-high 108 total tackles to go along with three forced fumbles, two pass deflections and one sack.
