Mike Vrabel says Patriots will discuss signing former first-round pick

New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel told media members on Friday that the team will have a conversation about free agent defensive tackle Christian Wilkins.

The former first-round draft pick's shocking release by the Las Vegas Raiders stole headlines on Thursday. He was only one year into a four-year, $110 million contract. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the decision was made due to how Wilkins treated his rehab for the foot injury he sustained last season.

Vrabel said he recruited Wilkins when he coached at Ohio State. The standout defender ended up choosing Clemson in college, before being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft.
