Mike Vrabel explains decision that caused Patriots fans to boo him

FOXBOROUGH — With just under 5 minutes left in the game and the Patriots down by 10, New England had a fourth and 5 on their own 49-yard line.

Trailing by two scores with an unfriendly clock, Patriots coach Mike Vrabel left the offense on the field. But after rookie tackle Will Campbell was flagged for a false start, the new coach sent the punting unit onto the field, prompting boos from the Gillette Stadium crowd.

Bryce Baringer followed with a poorly-struck 21-yard punt.

Still, the Patriots had a chance when a penalty and strong defense left the Raiders with a 3rd and 20.
