The New England Patriots' decision to cut wide receiver Kendrick Bourne a day after the roster cut deadline left many feeling confused on Wednesday.
However, the Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan provided some extra details to the story.
According to Callahan, the Patriots approached Bourne for a pay cut, and the veteran wideout turned them down. The team attempted to trade him to the Minnesota Vikings, but after those talks failed, he requested to be released from his contract.
The Patriots agreed to the request, ending Bourne's run in New England.
Bourne was in the second year of a three-year, $19.
