Earlier this spring, our sports staff compiled a March Madness-style bracket of the greatest Montgomery County athletes of all-time for our readers to vote on. Over the past two months, thousands of votes have been cast online to cut the field of 64 down to the Final Four: Region IV winner Larry Izzo (McCullough, 1992); Region II winner Bernard Smith (Conroe, 1997); Region III winner Cali Roper (Willis, 2012) and Region I winner KeSean Carter (The Woodlands, 2018). Voting for the semifinals runs through Sunday, May 24, at www.yourconroenews.com. In the meantime, we will be releasing a profile on a different athlete each day.
