The New England Patriots announced their 2024 team captains earlier this week. The list includes some of the longest-tenured players on the roster, but also one who didn’t join the Patriots until six months ago.
Besides serving as starting quarterback, Jacoby Brissett was also chosen as one of the six captains by his peers. For the 31-year-old, it came as an unexpected honor.
“It was definitely a surprise, for sure, but definitely something I don’t take for granted,” he explained during a press conference on Wednesday.
“Not only being a captain of this team and knowing all the guys that I looked up to in this organization — I played with a lot of them — but also the history of this team.
