Alex Austin, who was set to be an exclusive rights free agent, is staying with the New England Patriots in 2024.
The 22-year-old cornerback made the announcement on social media on Thursday afternoon. It’s a good move for the Patriots to continue facilitating depth in their defensive backfield with a young playmaker that showed real promise as a rookie.
Austin signed with the Patriots in November 2023 after landing briefly with the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans. The fit in New England was immediate, and Austin wasted no time making plays down the stretch.
