Former Patriots DL Richard Seymour falls short of Hall of Fame again; Peyton Manning, Calvin Johnson make the cut

For the third year in a row, Richard Seymour has fallen just short of induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The former New England Patriots star was part of a stacked Hall of Fame class this year, which legends like Peyton Manning, Calvin Johnson and Charles Woodson getting the call to Canton on their first year on the ballot.

Here are the five modern-era finalists who were part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021:

  • Indianapolis Colts/Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning
  • Raiders/Green Bay Packers defensive back Charles Woodson
  • Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson
  • Tampa Bay BuccaneersDenver Broncos defensive back John Lynch
  • Pittsburgh Steelers guard Alan Faneca

Additionally, three other individuals were inducted outside of the conventional modern-era ticket:

  • Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Drew Pearson (senior inductee)
  • Steelers executive Bill Nunn (contributor)
  • Raiders/Seattle Seahawks coach Tom Flores (coach)

Seymour was an integral part of the Patriots’ dominant defenses that fueled their 2001-2004 Super Bowl runs.
