Former New England Patriots: NFL salary was ‘not enough’ to live in Manhattan

Former New England Patriots fullback Jakob Johnson got to play right near the Big Apple last season. But actually living there? Turns out it’s tough, even on an NFL player’s dime.

This week, the German-born fullback replied to a post on social media poking fun at the unrealistic living spaces of fictional New Yorkers. It’s a frequent online joke that asks, for example, how did the characters on “Friends” afford to live in their nice apartments?

Johnson, who played for the New York Giants last season, wrote in a report that even a professional football player doesn’t necessarily make enough money to live it up in New York City.
