Former Hanover High offensive lineman Marky Walbridge has turned down Bill Belichick, among others, and has verbally committed to play college football at the University of Michigan.
Walbridge, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound rising senior at St. Sebastian's School in Needham, played varsity during his freshman season at Hanover High before transferring to St. Sebastian's. He had offers from a host of other top-flight college programs, including Alabama, Penn State, Ohio State and North Carolina.
Belichick, the famed New England Patriots coach, is going into his first season as head coach at North Carolina. In January, Walbridge revealed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he had received an offer from UNC, writing that he was "truly blessed" to have caught Belichick's eye.
