FOXBOROUGH — After watching teammates David Andrews and Christian Barmore get into a training camp fight at practice Tuesday afternoon, Patriots longtime captain Devin McCourty was glad to have a preseason game on the schedule Thursday night.
Intrasquad competition is good, to a point, but the Giants game (Gillette Stadium, 7 p.m.) arrives at a good time.
“Training camp is an awesome time, but we’re two different teams. You’ve got the offense and the defense,” he said. “We’re playing a game in two days. It’s about bringing this whole thing together. I get to go out there and cheer on Damien (Harris) after I’ve been talking trash to him every day in training camp.
