The collusion case between the NFL and former teammates Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid was settled on Friday, the two sides announced.
The news followed an Associated Press report on Thursday saying Mr Kaepernick was approached by the Alliance of American Football but the 31-year-old quarterback was looking for $20m (£15.5m) to play in the upstart league.
Both reports left many to question if Mr Kaepernick was going to get another shot in the NFL or even wanted to play football at all.
Mark Geragos, Mr Kaepernick’s attorney, answered the latter in a CNN interview on Saturday, stating his client “absolutely wants to play.
