Heading into the 2025 offseason, the New England Patriots had the most cap space and the most needs of all teams in the NFL. Their biggest need was at wide receiver, and the top option, Chris Godwin, was on the table.
However, after courting Godwin in free agency, he decided to head back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That left the Patriots to look elsewhere for a veteran wide receiver, and they ended up signing Stefon Diggs.
A few months later, in an article from Dan Pompei of The Athletic, Godwin revealed what went into his free agency decision, including what he turned down from the Patriots.
