With the New England Patriots defense having a great game on Sunday, there were several interceptions where defenders made great reads. In addition to an Adrian Phillips interception, Stephon Gilmore made an excellent play of his own.
A Ryan Fitzpatrick pass was intended for Preston Williams, but Gilmore was able to get in front of it for the interception. The interception occurred at the 11:39 mark of the second quarter. It would not end up hurting Miami too badly, as New England would have to punt on the ensuing drive. Nevertheless, it showed why Gilmore is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
