Brandon King likely out for year with quadriceps injury

The New England Patriots had to see numerous players go down with injury during their 10-3 preseason victory over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday. One of them stands out among the others, though: core special teamer Brandon King had to be carted off the field after a punt in the late second quarter. The 26-year-old did not return following his departure, and it looks like he may not be back on the gridiron in quite some time.

According to the Boston Globe’s Jim McBride, King suffered a torn quadriceps that will likely sideline him for the remainder of the season.
