SAN JOSE, Calif. — It is amazing these days what can get you labeled a racist or a bigot. It seems if you don’t like endless chest pounding every time a guy makes a play and that guy happens to be black and you’re not, you’re a racist.
This comes to mind because of the raging non-controversy controversy over how Cam Newton perceives he’s being perceived. Newton is a brilliant young quarterback who is entitled to his perceptions, but if the Superman thing has worn a little thin with some folks that doesn’t necessarily make them racist or Newton right about where he’s taken whatever criticism there’s been of him.
