Wes Welker is in Indianapolis, now a member of the Houston Texans coaching staff.
Texans head coach Bill O’Brien today explained why he added the former Patriots receiver to his staff. O’Brien, who had coached Welker in New England, said when he was a player, Welker had talked about being a coach one day.
“He always expressed a desire to coach,” O’Brien said of Welker, who was Tom Brady’s primary go-to-guy from 2007-2012. “He meant a lot to me in my career. To me, he’s the best slot receiver to play the game. He made a lot of great plays for us when I was calling plays (in New England).
