The New England Patriots have two options at kicker with Sunday’s 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff against the Miami Dolphins approaching.
And with undrafted rookie Quinn Nordin on the 53-man roster and veteran Nick Folk on the 16-man practice squad, the latter could potentially be elevated by the eve of the season opener.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick likes the flexibility.
“I think there’s a lot of merit to it,” Belichick told reporters of Folk during his video conference Friday morning. “That’s why he’s on the practice squad, and as all the players are with the two standard activations that teams are allowed to have, that’s a lot different than it was going back to ‘19 where it was a whole different set of rules.
