One of the bigger jobs in the NFL opened up Monday when Giants coach Tom Coughlin stepped down.
In this morning's conference call, Patriots coach Bill Belichick offered some words of respect for Coughlin, whose Giants denied the Pats an undefeated season in Super Bowl XLII and then defeated them again in Super Bowl XLVI.
The Giants and Patriots have made for one of the better rivalries in the game, and that was highlighted again in the Pats' dramatic, 27-26 win at MetLife Stadium on Nov. 15.
"Tom's had a great career both as a head coach and as an assistant coach at (Boston College), Jacksonville and New York," Belichick said.
