The Cincinnati Bengals attempted to slip rookie defensive lineman Eric Gregory onto the practice squad after cutting him Thursday while making room for free-agent signing Dalton Risner.
As it turns out, the New England Patriots had other plans.
When waiver claims processed the next day, the Patriots raised their hand for and were rewarded Gregory, ending his time in Cincinnati.
While signing Risner, the Bengals waived one player from the practice squad, presumably to keep a single spot open for Gregory.
Gregory, alongside Howard Cross, was one of two undrafted free agent defensive tackles to make the final 53 in Cincinnati.
