Ben Watson is happy to be back.
The Patriots tight end re-signed with the team on Tuesday after being released a week before. He seemed to take the news of his release hard, tweeting that he was “beyond disappointed but even more upset for my family who has supported me with all the love a husband and father could ask for.” Even quarterback Tom Brady appeared upset, saying the situation was “tough” and that Watson would be missed.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick pointed to roster space as a reason for Watson’s release, but following injuries to tight end Matt Lacosse and fullback Jakob Johnson, a spot opened up.
