Adrian Coxson, 23, retires upon being told 'next hit to my head could possibly kill me' (Shutdown Corner)

In the weeks after signing an undrafted rookie contract with the Green Bay Packers this past May, former Stony Brook standout Adrian Coxson said of his pro football dream in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "I know for a fact I want it more than any other free agent in the NFL, and I'm going to show that."

Four months later, Coxson has announced his retirement from the game over concussion concerns.

On the day training camp opened, Coxson shared his story in The Players' Tribune, detailing his transfer from the University to Florida to Maryland and ultimately Stony Brook in order to be closer to his father, Lawrence Coxson, who eventually succumbed to diabetes on the first day of practice his senior season.
