Would the Arizona Cardinals actually consider trading away wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald? Secondly, are the Patriots in a good enough position this coming offseason to give the Cardinals what they want for the legendary wideout?
According to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com, it's sure not out of the realm of possibility:
I think after this season they'll consider all the possible options. I don't think it's a secret that New England could use Larry Fitzgerald. When the numbers are broken down, it's actually affordable for a team to sign him after a trade. Then the question becomes what can the New England Patriots offer the Cardinals? With 11 contracts expiring after this season, Arizona will have needs but can the Patriots fill them is what a potential trade will come down to.
One thing to note - no one expected Percy Harvin to be shipped from the Seahawks to the Jets. Larry Fitzgerald is an entirely different story and a pillar of the Cardinals franchise, so it's likely a comparison of apples to oranges.
However, the Pats need help in their receiving corps and Fitzgerald might be the best option available if New England can put together an enticing enough package.
