Wolf Pack football coach Jay Norvell said he was sadden to see social protests at NFL games.
“There’s a lot of that going on in the news and it’s kind of sad that it’s gotten to this to be honest with you,” said Norvell, who played for season with the NFL’s Chicago Bears. “It really is. Sports are supposed to be an escape from a lot of that.”
Traditionally in college football, both teams remain in the locker room when the national anthem is played before the game, which has led to fewer pre-game protests at the amateur level than in the NFL.
