UNLV opened the half with its fourth three-and-out of the game. The Wolf Pack then got on the board following a nine-play, 50-yard drive when Pettit nailed a 38-yard field goal for a 30-10 lead. UNLV and Nevada then traded punts before the Rebels moved the ball to their 46-yard line before punting on fourth-and-4, which caused the Rebels fans in attendance to muster up a light boo.
Second quarter update at 3 p.m.
James Butler galloped 33 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the quarter, battling through a number of would-be tacklers to give Nevada a 17-0 lead.
