Wolf Pack tight end Matt Moen will medically retire from football, coach Brian Polian announced Tuesday.
The 6-foot-3 sophomore from Cibolo, Texas played all 13 games as a true freshman in 2014, including three starts, and played in last year's season opener. Moen has not played since then. He suffered an optic nerve injury in one of his eyes, causing the medical retirement.
“We were disappointed to learn recently that Matt Moen has been medically disqualified and can no longer participate in football,” Polian said in a release. “He suffered an injury to the optic nerve in one of his eyes and as a result it is clear to our medical staff and to Matt that it’s not in his best interests to continue to play.
