Wolf Pack takes early lead in MW Championships

The Wolf Pack swimming and diving team got out to a fast start on the first day of the Mountain West Championships at the Texas A&M Natatorium in College Station, Texas.

Three finals were held Wednesday and the Wolf Pack earned a MW title, from freshman diver Sharae Zheng, and posted a school record in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

The Wolf Pack amassed 128 points to push in front of its chief competitors, Boise State (91) and San Diego State (86).

Nevada compiled three top-four finishes on the 1-meter springboard, which was won by Zheng. Nevada tallied 65 points in the event, with reigning MW diver of the year, Krysta Palmer, placing second, Tamara Shmitova placing fourth and Zoe Lei sixth.
