Wolf Pack athletes, coaches getting used to the new normal with COVID precautions

Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding playing college sports during a pandemic, Wolf Pack basketball and football players say they have adjusted and adapted fairly well.

Around the country, games have been canceled, sometimes with not much notice; players have had to quarantine for 14 days; practices have to be limited in the number of people; and no fans are allowed at Nevada home games.

The Nevada women’s basketball team had its season opener canceled last week due to COVID contact tracing, then was able to play on Saturday.

Nevada men’s basketball coach Steve Alford, who played basketball at Indiana, said he could not imagine being a college athlete today and dealing with the many distractions.
