The Nevada athletic department proved to be superior to UNLV this season by claiming its first Governor's Series title, but could the Rebels also claim having the best athletic department in the Mountain West?
Oddly enough, that case could be made.
The 2016-17 athletic season all but ended over the weekend with the conclusion of the Mountain West baseball tournament. Yes, the winner of that event, San Diego State, has moved onto the NCAA Tournament and a few MW athletes will take part in the NCAA outdoor track and field championships next month. But the baseball tournament marked the end of MW versus MW competition.
