ALBUQUERQUE – Four individuals and all three doubles teams advanced on the first day of ITA Regional Championships being hosted by the University of New Mexico at the McKinnon Family Stadium and the Linda Estes Tennis Center. The five-day event continues on Thursday.
Sophomore Claudia Herrero earned the sixth seed and advances on with a bye. Herrero plays Wyoming’s Elisa Koonik on Thursday. Freshman Milena Achlamova needed three sets to take down Northern Colorado’s Rafaella Mora, 4-6, 6-1 and 7-5. On Thursday, she plays Chloe Forlini of Air Force.
Carlijn Ketting received a bye into the next round and will play Hanna Kantenwein of Boise State today on Thursday.
